Aus Rogaining News - October 2025
International Rogaining News
The International Rogaining Federation has a new interim President, Julie Quinn, and she has produced a newsletter featuring interesting rogaining news from around the world:
Check out this Tasmanian event for your summer rogaining fix!
Rogaining Tasmania will be running the Stagger On 24-hour Tasmanian Championships on December 6th and 7th, 2025. There will also be an associated non-championship 6-hour event.
This event will be held on farming properties in the Southern Midlands region, extending from just east of Bothwell almost to Oatlands. The terrain is varied, from open rolling paddocks and native grassy meadows through open forested hills and wet gullies. Unusually for Tasmania, the outcropping rocks are sandstone, which makes for some interesting features. The hash house is a 75-minute drive from Hobart Airport.
The rogaine will challenge competitive teams with plenty of distance, interesting navigation, and ample hilly bits. It will also offer novice entrants an opportunity to practice their navigation skills in pretty farmland and natural environments, and everyone in between will find a great mix of terrain, vegetation, and chances to spot plenty of Tasmanian wildlife.
For older rogainers, we have introduced an Extreme Veteran category where all team members must be 75 years of age or over.
24-hour events in Tasmania are uncommon so this is an opportunity not to be missed.
Event details, photo gallery, and the entry form can be found on the RT website.

Intervarsity Championships Results
The 2025 Intervarsity Rogaining Championships were held in conjunction with the NSW state championships and were hotly contested, with eight university teams from around Australia competing for the trophy. As in previous years, the travel costs for teams were covered by funds from the NAMSF in memory of champion rogainer Nigel Aylott.
Congratulations to the winning team, Oscar Woolford and Kelvin Meng from ANU.
